  • The In-Japan Fee covers all travel, lodging and meals while in Japan, with the exception of dinner on the last day, which is ‘on own’.
  • Airfare, cost of obtaining a passport, airport taxes, personal expenses, and insurance are the responsibility of the participant.
  • Labo scholarships for hosting a Labo member *do* apply for the Adult Exchange  (i.e. C$150 / US$100 for each Labo member hosted, up to three.)
  • Scholarships can be claimed only one time.
Host Family Assignments
You may request a specific host family. On the application form you will be asked for instructions in the case your requested family is not able to host you.

Because of the short time in Japan, Labo can only assign you to only one host family.

Travel to Japan

Participants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements to and from Japan. Arrival at Narita Airport must be on October 3.

It is fine if you want to extend your stay in Japan. But Labo’s responsibility will end on the last day of the scheduled program.

2005 Travel Schedule

Depart North America Sunday, October 2
Arrive Narita airport Monday, October 3
Depart Kansai Int’l Airport (Osaka): Thursday, October 13
Arrive North America: Thursday, October 13.

Travel in Japan

Labo will make all travel arrangements, take you to the train station/airport, meet you at your destination, and provide written instructions including emergency phone numbers. But you may be asked to make long-distance travel on your own.

Insurance

Participants are responsible for all medical expenses while in Japan. Medical care can be expensive in Japan, so Labo highly recommends the purchase of medical insurance.
